Breathtaking Mars Panoramic View
After climbing on Vera Rubin Ridge, Mars Rover Curiosity snapped a beautiful detailed Mars Panorama . The wide-angle picture shows the entire route of car sized curiosity rover from the point where it was landed five and half year ago.
It shows the floor of Gale crater, curiosity’s path from the Bradbury landing site to Vera Rubin ridge, the view covers 85 kilometers about 50 miles captured by mast camera during mars winter. In the background, a vast mountain range that forms the Northern rim of gale crater is seen. Martian sky is so clear that you can see a hill outside Gale Creator, which is 50 miles away.
“Even though curiosity has been steadily climbing for five years, this is the first time we could look back and see the whole mission laid out below us” excited curiosity project scientist Ashwin Vasavada of NASA Said.
Next destination is an interesting area called ‘Clay Unit’, where scientists are expecting clay like Martian soil, so they are planning to resume the curiosity drill machinery.
