Soon you will see a Wooden Car, Wooden Aeroplane, Wooden bulletproof armor and many more stronger things made of Strongest Wood , University of Maryland’s Engineers have crafted a method to make super wood with ordinary chemicals and wood, which is 10 times stronger & tougher than steel & many Titanium alloys.
“This new way to treat wood makes it 12 times stronger than natural wood and 10 times tougher, said Liangbing Hu of UMD A. James Clark School of Engineering and the leader of the team who invented this incredibly useful method. The report is published in the Feb 18 Journal Nature.
The Simple Process to make Strongest Wood
The First step involves boiling the simple wood in solution of Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and Sodium Sulfite (Na2SO3) …this process is same as they do while making paper from raw wood…this process partially removes Lignin and hemicelluloses from the wood. Lignin is the glue like substance that present in between wood cells.
The trick is to remove this Lignin Partially. If you remove all Lignin or very few quantity of it, you will get the weak wood, The trick is to remove this Lignin partially. This makes wood dense … This reveals the subtle balance between hydrogen bonding and the adhesion imparted by such polyphenolic compound
Engineers compressed the processed wood with 5 megapacals pressure, until wood cell walls collapsed while heating the wood at 100 Celsius. This enormous pressure and heat causes the formation of chemical bonds between large numbers of hydrogen atoms and neighboring atoms.
That’s it, you got your super wood, now you can make even Bullet proof armor with it, Engineers placed five layers of super wood and shoot a bullet, well it did stopped the bullet.

The application of such Strongest Wood is unimaginable; you can make lighter – faster Cars, Aeroplanes, Earthquake prone Buildings and many more lighter but stronger things.
